HIKKOMI series

Does it have to be square?
Handkerchiefs have a long history, with linen handkerchiefs being used in Egypt in BC. In the Middle Ages, it was valued as a "symbol of beauty" and collected.... Various forms were also created. And then there was Marie Antoinette. She advised that all domestic handkerchiefs should be square. Then her husband Louis XVI decreed that handkerchiefs should be the same size horizontally and vertically. This is the origin of the square handkerchief, which is still used today.
"Does it have to be square?"
Various techniques and manufacturing methods were born within the square, but we took a new step forward with a word from a designer. It is not a major change in shape, but it is a small departure from the conventional practice of having the edges tucked in. We have always insisted on square and straight hem. How should we make it retract?
The "HIKKOMI series" was created through a trial-and-error process involving the sewers and embroiderers. This unique design was born from a handkerchief specialty store that was particular about squares.
