This handkerchief is a special piece created using a design carefully selected from those supervised by Chiyo Uno.

Skilled artisans have meticulously hand-embroidered, stitch by stitch, cherry blossoms in full bloom against a backdrop of elegant and gentle spring haze. For the cherry blossoms alone, 10 shades of pink embroidery thread were used; including gold thread, a total of 21 colors of thread were lavishly employed.

Furthermore, three-dimensional cherry blossoms crafted from organza are scattered throughout the design, creating a sense of depth and rich expression unique to handcrafted work. Pure gold embroidery thread is used for the flower centers, adding an elegant sheen.

A delicate gradient shifting from gray to pink was printed on the fabric to faithfully reproduce the design.

The edges feature a delicate scalloped design, with gold thread accents creating an elegant impression. The rich, substantial feel of the luxurious hand embroidery covering the entire handkerchief harmonizes exquisitely with the soft texture unique to hand embroidery, giving it the presence of a true work of art.

A woman who remained active throughout her life

Born in Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. She made her debut as a writer in 1921 after winning first prize in a novel contest.

With her delicate prose, she depicted romance and human passions, opening new horizons in Japanese literature. In 1936, she launched the fashion magazine *Style*. She also demonstrated exceptional sensibility as a kimono designer, continually embodying the ideal of “living beautifully.”
